Adding a pedigree manually
Pedigrees can be added to your animals manually when adding the animal to your herd, or by clicking on the animal's Genetics tab after it has been added to your herd. In both cases, the steps for adding animals to a pedigree are the same. The first step is always to click the "Add" icon associated with the ancestral position you are adding:
Upon clicking the Add icon, you will be asked to indicate if the animal to be added to the pedigree is already in the herd's data. "Herd's data" includes animals that have been added to your EasyKeeper account and:
- Are, or have been, physically present in the herd; or,
- Have been added to the pedigree of an animal in your herd's data; or
- Have been added to a breeding as a Bred To animal in your herd's data
Select Options
- Select "Yes" if you know the animal you are looking for is in your herd's data
- Select "I don't know" if you think the animal you are looking for may be in your herd's data but aren't sure.
- Select "No" if you know the animal you are looking for is not in your herd's data
Adding a pedigree animal that is already in your herd's data
When selecting "Yes" or "I don't know", you will be presented with a Search animals function similar to the animal lookup above the scrolling herd list. Start typing in the animal's Full Name, Barn/Nickname, Registration id, or any of its identification numbers (tattoos, id tags, RFID or Scrapie program id.).
As you are typing, the system will start returning matches on your search term in a drop-down menu:
Once you have found the animal you are looking for, select it from the list to add it to the pedigree:

If the pedigree animal is not found in the herd's data with the entered search term the drop-down menu will disappear. Before proceeding, you may want to give it another try using a different search term in case there may be a typo in the data or search term. If you are still unable to find the animal, click "continue adding animal to pedigree" link and continue adding the animal as described in the section below.
Adding a pedigree animal that is not already in your herd's data
Selecting "No" and clicking the "continue adding animal to pedigree" link both direct you to the Add Pedigree Animal flow, which mirrors the Add Animal flow.
