Updating form field preferences

Several of the fields in EasyKeeper's forms support setting a user preference for a pre-filled value. This provides both time savings during data entry and helps ensure data integrity. The following form fields are currently supported by a preference setting:
  • Weight unit of measure
  • Method for weighing
  • Body Condition Score scale

Updating form field preferences

Step 1: Click on Preferences & Settings link at the upper right corner of your Herd Management Interface.

Step 2: Select the Data Preferences link in the drop-down menu. This will open the Data Preferences page.

Step 3: Click the Edit info link on the Data Preferences page.

Step 4: Update the preferences for the form fields to the values desired, then Press Save to submit your updates.

Effects of changing preference settings on existing data

Weight unit of measure

The data stored in the weight field is stored in a "normalized" manner, meaning it is not linked to any specific unit of measure, even if you have set a preference. This allows you change your preference at any time and all your existing data will automatically be handled using the new unit of measure. This
allows sums and averages to be properly calculated.

Weight method

The value stored in the weight method field in existing weight events will not be changed when the weight method preference is updated to a different selection.

Body condition score scale

The value stored in the body condition score field in existing BCS  events will not be changed when the body condition score scale preference is updated to a different selection.

However, changing the scale preference will cause the body condition score "Trends" values for animals with existing BCS events with the old scale to become invalid. To prevent this, we suggest you determine which scale you want to use and stay with it.

Note: the standard scale used for goat body condition scoring is 1-5.
