Adding an unregistered animal previously/currently enrolled in US DHIR milk test

You can add an unregistered animal that is currently or has previously participated in US DHIR milk test using the Find in Community Data function. To start, go to My Herd and click the Add Animal button on the second-level navigation bar; select Add registered animal.

Step 1: Select the 
Find animal in Community data link:

 

Step 2: 
Enter the animal's 16-digit National Id (issued when enrolled in US DHIR milk test) in the Registration/Id # field, and select National DHIA as the Registry/Organization, leaving the Name field blank; Click the Continue button.





Step 3: Once the search has run, select the animal you want to add to your herd by checking the box to the right of its name:



Step 4: The Add Animal form will display with any information found in the database prefilled.

a. Complete the additional required data:
  • Animal's Barn/Nickname
b. Add any additional information you may have:
  • Other registration numbers
  • Honor and award titles
  • Herdbook/Register and/or Breed, if not prefilled
  • Date of Birth, if not prefilled
  • Animal name, if known but not prefilled
  • Pedigree information, if not prefilled, and any additional profile data on pedigree animals you may have
c. Correct any erroneous information by over-typing the existing entry.

d. Indicate the animal's Source (how it came to be in your herd):

An animal must be added with a Source to ensure proper inclusion in reports. To indicate its Source on the Add Animal form, click the radio button next to the appropriate selection:



...And the applicable fields will display. Complete the required fields, and add any additional information you may want to enter related to the animal's Source:

Step 5: Once you have completed all the fields you want to have information in, save the animal's Folder to you herd by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the Add Animal form:
