Viewing, editing and deleting daily milk records

Prior to adding daily milk records you will need to create a Lactation Record with which to associate the daily records. You can create a Lactation while adding the animal's kidding record by checking the Create Lactation Record checkbox, or by going to the Milk page by clicking the Add Lactation button.

Viewing daily milk records

To view an animal's individual daily milk records, click on the view icon to view the daily records for the current or historical lactation records.

Editing daily milk records

From the animal's milk production history

To edit a daily milk record from an individual animal's daily milk records history, click on the view icon as described above, and then the edit icon associated with the daily milk record you want to edit. This will open the daily milk record in edit mode.

All information for the daily milk record can be edited from the individual animal's daily milk records history.

From the daily milk records batch entry form

While you can use the daily milk records form to edit a single animal's daily record, it is most useful when editing multiple animals' milk records for the same date.

To edit a daily milk record from the batch entry form, go to the batch entry page and click Add Daily Milk Records, then enter the date of the milk record(s) you want to edit.  Find the record(s) and make the desired changes. When you are done, save the batch entry form to save the updated record(s).

All information for a daily milk record other than the Date can be edited from the daily milk records batch entry page.

Important: When editing a daily milk record from the batch entry form, it is important that you don't "clear out" the records that display for the animals you are not editing. The system is designed to account for the data in these records when the batch entry action is submitted and won't create a duplicate record for the date. In fact, if you "clear out" those records, the system will see that as an edit action and save the blank field values, causing you to lose those milk records.

Deleting daily milk records

From the animal's milk production history

To delete a daily milk record from an individual animal's daily milk record history, click on the view icon as described above, and then the delete icon associated with the daily milk record to be deleted. As deleting a record is permanent, you'll be asked to confirm the delete action. Select Yes to confirm the delete.

From the milk records batch entry form

A daily milk record cannot be deleted from the daily milk record in the batch entry form, but the values can be removed by "clearing out" the weight fields and the saving the batch entry action. This would create a daily milk record with an empty production record.

Important: Creating a milk record with an empty production record will impact the accuracy of the lactation-to-date and lifetime-to-date daily production averages. If you need to completely remove a daily milk record, we suggest you do so via the individual animal's daily milk production history as described in the section above.
