Find animal in Community Data
Community Date lookup currently supports registered and unregistered animals on US DHI milk test programs and many animals registered with the American Dairy Goat Association and the American Goat Society. It provides an animal search function of external program databases and imports any information it finds about the animal into the Add Animal form.
If you raise registered dairy goats and are not on a US DHI milk test program, this is the best place to start. Herds that are or have been on US DHI milk test programs are best served by the "Add animals using my DHIR Herd Id" option below.
Animal lookup tip: You can add multiple animals from the Community Data lookup result. Search on a part of the animal name that is common to the animals you want to add (such as a herd prefix). This will return multiple animals you can, speeding up your data entry task by reducing the number of searches you need to perform:

When searching on the herd prefix "Shascade", 32 animals matching this search term were returned. Any of the animals on the list can be added to the herd by selecting the checkbox at the left of the animal name.

Add registered animal manually
For all other registered animals - and those you don't find via the Community Data lookup - this is the best option.

Add animals using my DHIR Herd Id

This option allows you to use your program herd id to find many of the animals that are, or have been, associated with your herd. It will return a list of animals, from which you can choose the animals to be added to your herd. Like the "Find animal in Community Data option", it imports any information it finds about the animal into the Add Animal form. If you find there are animals missing from the search results, you can add them manually as described in the previous section.
