Completing health activity reminders during batch entry

Internet Explorer users: Batch entry of health events is currently not supported on IE. Please use a different browser to access the health event batch entry function for now. We recommend FireFox and Chrome for the best experience with EasyKeeper.

When completing scheduled reminders from the Dashboard, EasyList, and in the animal's Snapshot and Health pages, the trigger is the display of the reminder, which is clicked to record the health event that completes the reminder. The action is basically, "I had a reminder to do something, I did I did it, and this is what I did".

In batch entry, the order is reversed. It starts with "what I did", and then provides the mechanism to link that action to one or more "reminder(s) to do something" to record the activity as having been completed. This makes the health event entry interface extremely flexible as reminders for some animals can be marked as completed, while others can be left open, and in some cases, a combination of both for any individual animal.

Regardless of the order of operations, the reminders are handled in the same way; the health event is saved, the open reminder is "completed", and the next reminder is scheduled based on the recurrence interval for that specific reminder series.

Display of health activity reminders

Scheduled reminders can be marked as completed in conjunction with adding health events during batch entry.

When the animal's event forms display, two type of reminders can display:
  • Scheduled reminders for the activity being recorded (direct matches on both event category and health event activity)
  • Scheduled reminders for other events that may be an indirect match with the activity being recorded but potentially appropriate to be marked as completed with the health event being recorded.

Scheduled reminders for the health event activity performed

Direct reminders are reminders the were specifically scheduled as a follow up for the administration of the health event being recorded, or a single reminder or reminder series created for the health event being recorded created using the Create Reminders feature. These are the same reminders that display on the animal's Snapshot and Health pages, on the Dashboard and in the EasyList.

Reminders for events that may be similar or related to the health event activity performed*

To help you prevent missing existing reminders for a similar or related activity to the health event being recorded, the system may display currently scheduled event reminders that may be indirectly related to the health event being recorded, and possibly appropriate to be completed in conjunction with the health activity being recorded. These could include other reminders that have the same active ingredient, test type, purpose of vaccine, etc.*

Selecting health activity reminders to be completed

Reminders to be marked as completed either manually on an animal-by-animal basis, or automatically by checking the "Mark all reminders as completed" feature. Individual reminders can be deselected manually any time prior to saving the batch entry action.

Using the "Mark all reminders as completed" function will automatically select all of the animal's reminders for completion--both direct and indirect--when the animal is selected for the batch entry action.

When submitting the batch entry action, only the reminders that are marked for completion will be completed and the next reminder in the series scheduled based on its recurrence interval. Any reminder that is left unchecked upon saving the batch entry action will not be completed. The reminder will continue to display as a "Scheduled event" in the animal's health history and Snapshot, and the Dashboard and EasyList as applicable.

Multiple health events that may be associated with same scheduled reminder

When there are two health events being added that may be related indirectly to the same existing scheduled reminder, checking one, or both, of the reminders will complete the scheduled reminder and create the next reminder for the health event activity (in this case, Bo-Se). Submitting the batch entry action with both reminders checked for completion will not create a duplicate follow up reminders.

Multiple reminders that may be associated with same health event

When adding a health event for an animal that has two or more existing reminders indirectly associated with the health event being recorded each reminder is handled separately. Checked reminders will be completed and a followup reminder for the health event activity will be scheduled basde on the series' recurrent interval. Unchecked reminders will not be completed when the batch entry action is saved.

Tips for improving the accuracy of related activity reminder suggestions

Using accurate and consistent references to the health event activities in your events will greatly improve our ability to map the relationships between health activities and present them for your convenience as possible matching reminders in the health event forms used in batch entry. Here are some tips to help you get the best out of this great feature:
  • Use the options available in the health activities dropdown whenever possible; User-added entries will not be mapped immediately, and in some cases, not at all.
  • Check your spelling before submitting your entry. Preferring to error on the side of caution, if we cannot easily identify what drug/test/activity you added, it will not be mapped.
  • Whenever possible, don't add new entries that are abbreviations unless they are very common to the goat industry, for the same reason as above.
  • If you must use abbreviations, also always use that selection when adding health events. Do you prefer CD&T or CD/T? Make a choice and stay with it.

*The display of suggested potentially related reminders or potentially similar events is supported by manually-entered health event activity mappings in the EasyKeeper database. This functionality has been added only as a convenience to the user to help identify reminders for events or existing events that may be related, either directly or indirectly, to the Brand/Type, Test Type, Activity or event category of the health event being added to help prevent duplicate event administration and/or not completing a health event reminder that should be completed. The accuracy of the suggestions mapping to the current event being added is in no way guaranteed; Like all "suggestions" included the EasyKeeper service, it is the sole responsibility of the User to verify that the accuracy of the suggestion and act accordingly, and by saving the batch entry action with any suggested scheduled reminder marked or potential duplicate event included assumes full responsibility for the action.
