Creating health event templates for batch entry

Internet Explorer users: Batch entry of health events is currently not supported on IE. Please use a different browser to access the health event batch entry function for now. We recommend FireFox and Chrome for the best experience with EasyKeeper.

Entering health events using the batch entry functionality can greatly speed up your data entry time and help ensure you have consistently entered, quality records.

Batch entry consists of three steps:
  1. Creation of health event templates to be applied to the animals
  2. Refining the standard list of animals that received the health activity using filters (optional)
  3. Applying the health events to animals
This article discusses the functional aspects and creation of health event templates, step 1.

Accessing the batch entry functionality for health events

Batch entry for health events can be accessed by clicking the Batch Entry in the top-level navigation bar in the herd management interface, then Add Health Events on the Batch Entry page.

Batch entry is a Performance plan feature, and supports all health event categories.

Health event templates Q & A

The health event template is a master health event entry form that is applied to each animal included in the batch entry action.
Each health event you are entering will have its own template. It is very similar to the per-animal health event entry form, and includes all of the fields associated with the particular health event form.

How many health events can be added at one time?

You can add as many health events as you want at one time, including events that occurred on different dates.

Due to existing date validation requirements, only one weight event and one body condition score event can be added per batch entry action.

Please note: The more templates you add to a batch entry action the longer it will take for the follow-up page to load steps 2 and 3.

What information can be added to a health event template?

Event category, health event activity (Brand/Type, Activity, Test Type) and Date are required to create a health event template.

The information added to the health event template will
pre-fill the form when the event is applied to the animal, therefore, adding any additional information that is common to all--or even most--of the animals in the batch will mean you don't have to add this data on a per-animal basis in step 3.

Example of a health event template for a pregnancy test. Since all tests were done from a blood sample, the results were received on the same day, and most of the animals were were pregnant, all fields can be completed in this step. The test result for any animals that were not pregnant can be updated individually in step 3.

Can the information entered into the health event template be edited?

With the exception of the date and health event activity (Brand/Type, Activity, Test Type), any information added to the health event template can be edited in the individual animal's form.

Additionally, information that is pre-filled in the individual animal's from the health event template can be removed, with the exception of required information.

What happens if an animal didn't have the activity in the template?

Any forms for events that created for an animal by the template but were not performed can be removed from the batch entry action manually.

Do all health events in a batch entry action have to be on the same date?

No. Each health event template is a separate form, so there is no requirement that the events have the same date.

Which service plans have the health events batch entry feature?

After a special introductory period for all customers through 8/31/2017, batch entry of health events will be available in the Performance plan.
